Dreams, Saints and Angels
The collection of gouache/pastel paintings is inspired by the poet Rumi's quote:
“ Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you
there." (Rumi, 1207-1273). The paintings are inspired by dreams and meditation.
Besides images of dreams, angels and of well-known saints like Hildegard of Bingen
and Brigid of Kildare, the artist painted images of three people that have deeply
influenced her life as modern-day saints. They are "looking in" at us from behind
the dualistic, black-and-white barrier of our life, as they are now in the playful and
unitive "field beyond wrongdoing and rightdoing".
Accompanying them are paintings of four Archangels (Rafael, Uriel, Gabriel and
Michael) whose archetypal energies (Healing, Wisdom, Bridge building and
Warrior) these individuals gave human form to. The saint archetype is accessible to
all of us; anyone can be a source of goodness in the lives of others, and in this way
can be a modern day saint.
