Sieg Gallery - Emily Green
February 28 - March 27
Friday, Saturday, & Sunday 12:00 to 4:30
Emily's work has always been guided by stories and the desire to share them. She often looks
to quilts for inspiration as a means of visual storytelling and abstract symbolism. Where she
used to match traditional quilt patterns with her subject matter the quilting aspect has simplified
over the years. Now she favors simple geometric shapes hinting at their origins as she paints
small stories of her life.
With the pandemic changing the way we interact with each other and art, it seemed important to
tell tales of comfort and togetherness while we were apart, and to mark the seasons as we lost
track of time. A little sad perhaps, but hopeful too.
