Tom Rosenow is a Pennsylvania native, born and raised in Lancaster County. He moved to central PA to finish his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Penn State then moved to Bellefonte where he now resides. Tom is a lifelong artist experienced in painting, drawing, and printmaking but primarily works in oil paints. Over the last 3 years he's focused heavily on recreating local landscapes as a way to connect with both the environment he lives in and other people who may or may not recognize those places. His favorite response from viewers is when someone "recognizes" a painting as a place they've been - even if it was painted somewhere else entirely. He believes this highlights the universal connection that landscape paintings can provide.
My work is created as a way to reflect upon the places I've lived and meditate on all the beauty that the world has to offer us. Our environment, both natural and man-made, is a thing of beauty that I believe anyone can connect with and appreciate. By painting real places at particular times, I record a distinct moment in history that can never be recreated or re-lived. Only remembered. This highlights both what I find to be special about each new day as well as how our minds store memories.Virtual Slideshow: https://www.facebook.com/bellefonteartmuseum/videos/460145928467834/
