Formed Felt

Wool is magic. It can be woven, sewn, knitted, crocheted, felted, used for insulation and used for many variations within each category. I have chosen to explore felt.
Soap, water, and agitation reform single fibers into a cohesive fabric with many possibilities. This exhibit is designed to showcase a few of those possibilities.
My journey began with a beret followed by other small wearables. Wall hangings provided a larger canvas to express design.
I am now concentrating on canvas mounted work. All pieces have my felt as a basis and are then embellished with wool friendly fibers.
Fibers in my work include various breeds of wool, other natural fibers such as silk, hemp, cotton, flax, and hand dyed silk yardage.
Making felt is an ongoing adventure.
