Dear Members and Friends,
The Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County is scheduled to reopen on September 4, 2020. In the interim we are providing an online version of our summer program, “An Imagination Celebration”, for you to enjoy and share. We have planned weekly activities and learning opportunities built around the theme “It’s A Surreal World”. Many of you have already responded to the summer theme, letting us know you find it so very appropriate!
Since Centre County is now “GREEN”, why are we not opening?
You might say it’s a case of “The Tortoise and the Hare”, we want to plod along slowly making sure we are providing our members and the public with inspirational and joyful activities, but doing so very cautiously to make sure we come back together safely. Most importantly, the museum is located in a very old historic building with many small rooms. Consequently, it is difficult to create an appropriate amount of space between visitors to follow social distancing guidelines. In addition, we do not want folks standing outside for long periods waiting to be allowed to come into the museum. We promise that, as the summer progresses, if the pandemic does NOT resurge in our county we will re-evaluate our plan and open before September 4th. We will keep you informed.
This has been and continues to be a very stressful time for our county and our citizens. We care about you and your safety and by the power of the creative spirit, we are here to offer you as much relief from the worry and pain as possible.
Keep safe and hopeful,
Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County
